Work I have done

Three situations from my career, from Workday implementations to running finance for an importer.

Workday implementation

Record to Report for enterprise clients

Client details withheld. Role: Senior Consultant, Workday Finance.

Situation
Enterprise clients were running complex transformation programs and needed one platform for Record to Report, including parallel reporting under US GAAP, IFRS and Local GAAP.
What I did
  • Ran stakeholder workshops covering Record to Report, multi-book accounting and statutory reporting.
  • Configured the financial data model: custom organizations, worktags, ledger accounts, accounting details, balancing rules and hierarchies.
  • Designed business asset accounting, banking and settlement, and bank reconciliation.
  • Built approval workflows, security roles and segregation-of-duties controls, with custom validations.
  • Automated journals for revenue, accruals, intercompany and assets.
  • Led unit testing, SIT and UAT coordination, then go-live, hypercare and stabilization.
What the clients got
Parallel reporting across frameworks, a controlled period-end close with automated journals and bank reconciliation, source-to-GL drill-down for audit, and trained finance users with documentation to keep using.
Finance leadership

Settling bank debt and recovering GST refunds

Head of Finance, Creative Impex, a New Delhi manufacturer and exporter of readymade garments.

Situation
The company carried working capital funding and a term loan, and GST refunds had been pending since 2017.
What I did
  • Negotiated a one-time settlement with the bank for the working capital funding and term loan.
  • Followed up and obtained the pending GST refunds from 2017 onward.
  • Built financial models to track trends and forecast cash flows, and reported risks and opportunities to leadership.
Result
The bank debt was settled in a single agreement and the old refunds were recovered, which improved the company's cash position.
Finance leadership

GST systems and a faster import process

Finance Manager, Ornate Agencies (Ornate Solar), a distributor of solar panels, inverters and related components.

Situation
A fast-growing distributor with 11 branches and 15 warehouses needed GST-compliant systems, control over foreign exchange exposure on imports and a quicker, cheaper way to clear goods through customs.
What I did
  • Managed the accounts and logistics departments across all branches and warehouses.
  • Designed and implemented GST-compliant systems for scheduling, invoicing and reporting.
  • Managed forex risk on annual imports and coordinated with banks on limits and trade services.
  • Introduced a cost-effective system for importing goods.
Result
  • 7 daysfaster customs clearance
  • 70%lower clearance cost
  • USD 45Mannual imports, forex risk managed
  • INR 400 Crannual turnover overseen
